Ski Jackets & Pants

When selecting a jacket or pants it is important to remember to layer your clothing. As the temperature can vary greatly during the day, it is important to have a variety of choices, with you, to make your skiing day most enjoyable. As well, please remember that you do warm up between runs as you are transported in a heated cab to your next run. We recommend that you have ski clothing with Gortex (or breathable material) as it is great for allowing perspiration to get out while keeping the insulating layers of clothing near the skin dry. A high collar is a good feature to keep the snow from spilling into your jacket as is a powder skirt or snow cuff at the waist of your jacket.

Pants serve the same function as the jacket, and many of our guests’ prefer pants with a high bib. The winning combination is a pair of pant with the bib that comes part way up the torso, and a long ski jacket with a waist draw cords as well as one at the bottom of the jacket. This will assure you stay dry and warm.

Ski Gloves

It is important that your gloves or mittens have powder cuffs that cover your mid forearm, to keep your hands, snow free. It is a good idea to get gloves or mitts that have removable inner liners to allow you to swap liners during the day. We recommend that you bring two pairs of gloves/mittens with you: one for cooler days and one for warmer days.

Ski Helmet

Many of our guests are choosing to ski and board with helmets. Helmets provide you with warmth and protection should you fall. We do not provide these at the lodge so please bring your own to Chatter Creek.

Base Layers

Insulating base layers keep you warm and dry. Synthetic fibers are better than natural fibers, which absorb water and trap it against the skin. When this happens, heat is drawn away from your body and you feel cold.
