Heli Skiing 2009/10
Chatter Creek is pleased to be able to offer the option of heli skiing for a day to our cat skiing guests.
You have the option to either:
- Replace one of your cat skiing days with a day of heli skiing or
- Fly in early morning on your arrival day and heli ski that day.
The minimum number of skiers required for a day's heli skiing to go ahead is four.
The prices per day for either of these options are as follows:

Charges are calculated as follows:
- All prices are per person and are exclusive of tax. 5% GST will be added to the total cost.
- If 12 skiers opt to heli ski and all the skiers are from one cat, the 12th person skis for free. If you opt to replace a cat ski day with heli-skiing these prices are additional to what you have already paid.
Skiing
Skiing will be conducted in groups of four plus a guide. We will run up to three groups with the helicopter. The helicopter we use is either the A Star BA or the Bell 407. Both are small agile machines.
The Chatter Creek heli skiing terrain is outside the areas where we are able to cat ski and includes some of the terrain that many guests have admired from the Vertebrae Ridge and Glacier when cat skiing. The maximum altitude we heli ski from is around 10,000ft.
Vertical Guarantee
The minimum vertical guarantee will be 17,000ft per day. Subject to three people opting to continue heli skiing additional vertical will be available at the price shown. In the unlikely event that the minimum vertical is not achieved credits against future cat or heli skiing trips with Chatter Creek will be offered.
Weather
If heli skiing has been booked and the weather is good enough for the helicopter to fly safely then heli skiing will take place. We are unable to guarantee blue sky days! The decision on what is, and is not, a heli ski day will rest solely with the Chatter Creek guides and the helicopter pilot.
If you substitute a day of cat skiing for heli skiing and due to bad weather you are unable to heli ski you will of course be able to cat ski.
Payment
A deposit is required to reserve your seat in the helicopter. If due to bad weather the helicopter does not leave Golden 80% of the deposit will be refunded to you.
If the helicopter flies to Chatter Creek but then due to bad weather heli skiing does not take place there will be a partial refund of the deposit for group sizes of 6 and above in the form of a credit against future cat or heli skiing trips with Chatter Creek. We are unable to offer a deposit refund for a group size of four. Due to the weather forecasting we do each day we anticipate that this occurrence will be highly unlikely.
Final payment will be taken at the Lodge as will charges for additional vertical.
If you pay a deposit to heli ski, then decide not to do so once you are at Chatter Creek and heli skiing occurs that day you are committed to pay the total price unless you are able to find a replacement at the lodge to take your place. In this case the balance outstanding will be charged by Chatter Creek to your replacement but the deposit already paid by you is not refundable.
